Nuclear medicine vendor Digirad reported fiscal 2005 second-quarter consolidated revenues of $15.5 million, down 11% compared with the $17.3 million turned in during the second quarter of 2004. For the period (end-June 30), the Poway, CA-based vendor had a net loss of $3 million, a steep increase compared with a net loss of $103,000 a year ago.
The company attributed the decline in revenue primarily to vacancies in its sales organization and disruptions in sales activities during the second quarter. Digirad said that a lower number of gamma camera sales, inventory-related charges of $600,000, and a $200,000 charge for an internal investigation contributed to the increase in its net loss for the quarter.
In other news, the company said that it has hired Randy Weatherhead, previously vice president of sales and marketing for nuclear medicine at Siemens Medical Solutions (Malvern, PA), as its vice president of marketing.
