Multimodality vendor Siemens Medical Solutions announced the 1,000th installation of its PET technology this week.
The milestone unit was a PET/CT scanner sold to Florida Radiation Oncology Group in Jacksonville, FL. The Malvern, PA, company said the sale exemplifies the market's move from dedicated PET scanners to hybrid PET/CT systems, with an almost 100% shift to PET/CT since 2001, according to Michael Reitermann, president of Siemens' molecular imaging division.
