The European Congress of Radiology (ECR) has announced the availability of a molecular imaging scholarship grant sponsored through the ECR/European Association of Radiology (EAR) research and education fund.
The scholarship, which takes place in the department of radiology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, will start on July 1, 2006, and run for two years. The scholarship grant for training in molecular imaging depends on the scholar's years of postgraduate training and starts at $46,000 (U.S.) annually, the ECR said.
Applicants must be ECR members; a radiologist or associated scientist working in a radiological department or molecular imaging laboratory; and must be in training or have recently completed postgraduate training. The ECR said that research experience, especially for translational or basic research, is advantageous but not mandatory.
Applications must be sent by e-mail to the attention of the ECR/EAR Research and Education Fund Committee, and must include:
- A full CV of the applicant.
- A letter from the applicant's department head confirming that upon the trainee's return, he or she will be provided the opportunity to pursue molecular imaging research in the department. (Please fax this letter to +43-1-535-70-37.)
- A second letter from the sponsoring institution describing how the applicant's new skills will be used within the institution's infrastructure. The terms of the grant require that the applicant return to Europe to continue his/her activities in this field.
The deadline for applications is October 15 this year.
