Siemens finalizes Bayer buy

Siemens Medical Solutions has completed its acquisition of Bayer Healthcare's diagnostic division.

The Erlangen, Germany-based firm merged Bayer Diagnostics and previous acquisition Diagnostic Products Corporation (DPC) into a single business unit on January 1. The new entity, called Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens Medical Solutions USA.

Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics is headquartered in Tarrytown, NY, and Los Angeles. The combined business generated cumulative sales of 1.8 billion euros ($2.37 billion U.S.) in fiscal 2005 (end-December 31).
