Medical Imaging Electronics (MiE) and Nuclear Imaging Services (NIS) have received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its ECAT Scintron upgrade.
ECAT Scintron is an upgrade to Siemens Healthcare's ECAT 47, ECAT HR+, and ECAT Accel legacy PET systems, according to the companies.
The upgrade involves removing workstations based on ACSII and Sun Microsystems operating systems and replacing them with new PC-based technology. The upgrade provides new and existing users of the ECAT-series PET systems with access to faster processing speeds, new acquisition protocols, and parts availability, the firms said.
