FDA clears new Alzheimer's features for Siemens' syngo.PET software

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared two new Alzheimer's disease analysis features for Siemens Healthineers' syngo.PET Cortical Analysis software.

One of the new features is centiloid scoring, which uses a 100-point scale to standardize amyloid plaque quantification on PET brain scans across three beta-amyloid PET radiopharmaceuticals used to diagnose Alzheimer's, according to the firm.

The other is a tau PET quantification element in the software that uses Braak staging to track the progression of tau pathology on PET images acquired with flortaucipir, Siemens said.
