MGH to study Magna-Lab coil for MR plaque imaging

Massachusetts General Hospital will begin animal studies of Magna-Lab's intravascular MRI catheter coil, according to Magna-Lab of Lynnfield, MA. The MGH researchers will evaluate the coil's ability to obtain in vivo, high-resolution MR images of the coronary vessel walls.

Magna-Lab believes the new coil will aid in the diagnosis of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque. The study will last approximately four months, according to the vendor.
