Dear AuntMinnie Member,
We've released the list of semifinalists in the Minnies, AuntMinnie.com's annual event recognizing excellence in radiology.
Chosen through nominations from our members, the Minnies candidates represent the best of radiology. This year's contenders include 164 entries in 14 categories, ranging from Most Influential Radiology Researcher to Most Effective Philanthropy Program or Campaign.
In the next stage of the Minnies, our expert panel of radiology luminaries will vote in two stages, first coming up with a list of finalists and then selecting the winners. We'll announce the winners prior to this year's RSNA meeting in Chicago.
To see who's hot in radiology, just go to minnies.auntminnie.com.

Good news for MRI?
Finally, read up on the latest good news in an otherwise beleaguered radiology industry. A new market research report predicts growth in MRI scanner purchasing as sites look to replace systems that have been aging during the Great Recession.
Market research firm IMV Medical Information Division queried hundreds of MRI sites on their purchasing plans and found that the average age of the installed base has risen nearly three years, just since 2007. The implication is that many of these sites will replace these systems to get access to the new MRI technologies that have been developed in recent years.
