A patient at an Indianapolis Veterans Affairs (VA) medical center was injured when the gun he brought into the facility accidentally discharged.
According to a December 31 article in the IndyStar, the veteran may have been in the MRI suite at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center when the incident occurred. The facility said the injury was not life-threatening.
The hospital initially indicated that an MRI was involved but later stated only that it happened "in a procedure room," according to the report.
It is against state and federal law to bring a firearm into a hospital.
