Image-guided radiotherapy developer ViewRay announced that its new MRIdian linear accelerator-based radiation therapy system will be the subject of research studies performed at the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Designed as an upgrade to ViewRay's existing MRIdian product line, the new technology enables the integration of MRI guidance with a compact linear accelerator (linac). It is currently available only for nonclinical research.
ViewRay worked with Washington University on the original MRIdian system, and Siteman Cancer Center was the first facility to begin treating patients.
