Grady Health System of Atlanta said it has acquired BrightMatter advanced visualization software from 3D visualization firm Synaptive Medical.
The healthcare system is the first in Georgia to obtain the BrightMatter technology, which is designed to support efficient clinical decision-making with advanced imaging, planning, navigation, and robotic visualization.
The software is used with diffusion-tensor imaging (DTI) in MRI to visualize stroke and brain tumors. With the aid of DTI-MRI, clinicians can use the software to visualize the brain pathways, enabling minimally invasive surgical treatment of brain hemorrhages and deep tumors that were previously deemed inoperable, the healthcare provider said.
The potential impact for patients includes smaller surgical incisions, shorter recovery times, and preservation of vital brain and spinal cord functions, Grady Health said.
