NeoCoil has launched Sentinel S1, an MRI-conditional wireless audio system for use with select 1.5- and 3-tesla MRI units.
Sentinel S1 integrates audio entertainment with patient-technologist communication and attenuates scanner noise without the need for pneumatic tubes. Entertainment can be tailored to the patient's preference, as the system is compatible with commercial audio players that have a standard 3.5-mm audio output jack.
The audio system's headset provides a noise reduction rating (NRR) of 29 dB, allowing it to be used without earplugs at noise levels up to 128 dB, the firm said. For patient studies that use a head coil where there is insufficient space to accommodate an over-the-ear headset, NeoCoil's system includes a wireless earbud that also provides an NRR of 29 dB.
In addition, Sentinel S1 allows simultaneous use of two headsets so healthcare personnel or a family member can remain in the room and hear the same audio as the patient without being tethered to the system by pneumatic tubes.
Sentinel S1 is compatible with select scanners that have pneumatic audio ports at the foot end of the patient table, NeoCoil said.
