Software developer Nocimed has deployed its Nociscan spinal pain assessment software at Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group in Colorado and Spire Nottingham Hospital in the U.K.
The institutions are the first commercial customers for Nociscan, which analyzes MR spectroscopy images to detect chemical biomarkers associated with disk pain and the structural integrity of the annulus of the disk. The software is designed to serve as an adjunctive tool for diagnosis of degenerative disk disease pain, according to the vendor. It was developed initially at the University of California, San Francisco.
