Targeson wins $225K NIH grant

Ultrasound imaging technology developer Targeson has received a grant of $225,000 from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The company will use the grant to explore the use of its targeted microspheres as a diagnostic imaging test to detect the penetration of major histocompatibility complex II (MHCII) macrophages into growing tumors. Real-time imaging of this process will allow researchers to assess antitumor immune response in animal studies, according to the firm.

The research will be conducted by Dr. Jack Bui, PhD, of the University of California, San Diego, Targeson said.
