Computer-aided detection (CAD) developer R2 Technology has released the latest version of its mammography CAD algorithm. Version 8.0 will be incorporated across R2's ImageChecker product line, and features improved free-response receiver operating characteristics (FROC) performance.
The update provides a lower false marker rate at any given sensitivity -- for example, 1.5 false marks per normal case at the 91 percent sensitivity level, according to the Sunnyvale, CA-based firm.
R2 also expects V8.0 to improve workflow. Its EmphaSize CAD markers draw attention to mammographic features the algorithm regards as characteristic of malignancy, while its Greenlight user interface helps technologists process films quickly and monitor the progress of the film scanning from a distance, R2 said.
