Wayne, NJ-based Konica Minolta plans to highlight its work-in-progress Regius PureView Mammography System, based on computed radiography technology, at the RSNA meeting.
The system uses phase contrast mammography (PCM) technology and CR to produce digital mammography images, which are then scanned by the company's Xpress CR reader at 43.75 µm, producing a resolution of 20 lp/mm. Regius PureView incorporates molybdenum x-ray tubes.
The system is being used clinically in Japan and will be launched in Europe in November. It does not yet have FDA approval for marketing in the U.S.
Konica also plans to feature a new Drypro 793 dry laser imager designed for mammography applications. Drypro delivers up to 4.0 Dmax and 25-micron resolution, of particular advantage for breast imaging, although it can also be used in a hospital's CR, CT, and MRI departments, according to Konica. Drypro 793 can process 120 films per hour.
