Computerized Imaging Reference Systems (CIRS) has received approval from the American College of Radiology (ACR) as a vendor for the new ACR digital mammography phantom.
The ACR digital mammography phantom, CIRS Model 086, is designed for testing and accreditation based on the new ACR Digital Mammography Quality Control Manual, slated for release in late July. The ACR clearance allows CIRS to begin immediate production of the phantom.
CIRS submitted two sample phantoms for testing and evaluation by an independent medical physicist. Both of the sample phantoms met the required specifications, tolerances, and performance requirements set by the ACR.
This is the second ACR-approved CIRS phantom. The first phantom was designed by the ACR for accreditation as required by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) of 1992. The CIRS Model 015 mammography phantom is still available for purchase.
