Israeli digital x-ray developer Nanox has been making headlines since the company arrived on the radiology scene in 2020, and this past week was no exception. Our top story for the week was the news that the company plans to acquire an artificial intelligence (AI) software developer as well as a teleradiology services provider.
Nanox said that it plans to buy AI firm Zebra Medical Vision and teleradiology provider USARad Holdings and integrate them with the digital x-ray system that it's in the process of rolling out. The company wants to be able to offer access to low-cost medical imaging services in underdeveloped areas around the world, and it sees Zebra and USARad as giving it the ability to offer both AI- and teleradiology-based remote image interpretation services. FDG-PET/CT for COVID infection
We've written in the past in our Molecular Imaging Community about how PET/CT is demonstrating its value for detecting infection related to COVID-19. This week, we highlighted a study showing that the modality can predict disease severity.
PET/CT can also predict survival for patients with pancreatic cancer shortly after they've begun chemotherapy, according to a study from researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles. And the hybrid modality also beat bone scintigraphy for detecting metastatic disease in children with soft-tissue cancer, European researchers have found.
