Able releases next iteration of 3D-Doctor

Three-dimensional-software developer Able Software of Lexington, MA, has released a new version of 3D-Doctor, a vector-based 3D imaging, modeling, and measurement software application for CT, MR, microscopy, and volumetric images.

An interactive 3D image registration function has been implemented to register images of different modalities, such as CT, MR, and PET, according to the firm. The registration function displays both the source and the target image in 3D and interactively adjusts the source image until it fits the target image. A control point-based registration function is also available for multimodality 3D image registration and fusion, Able said.

In addition, a new animation function has been implemented that permits the creation of animations and 3D simulations from 3D rendering. Tissue display properties can be set as transparent, opaque, wire frame, or with a texture map for the animation. Objects can be moved, scaled, hidden, or made visible as part of the animation process, according to the firm.
