(Booth 8931) Exxim Computing of Pleasanton, CA, will use its RSNA presence to tout the newest version of its COBRA software for reconstruction of conebeam CT (CBCT) images.
Based on the company's Feldkamp algorithm for CBCT, version 6 of the software includes a number of performance enhancements and increased functionality. The company has ported part of the algorithm onto the GeForce8800GTX graphics card from NVidia, which boosts reconstruction speed by almost an order of magnitude and eliminates wait time after data acquisition, according to the company.
Exxim has added a correction for typical Feldkamp artifacts, which otherwise show up at large cone angles, especially in asymmetric detector configurations. For users without direct access to a medical workstation, Exxim has added an optional visualization module that provides volume rendering, maximum intensity projection (MIP), multiplanar reformatting (MPR), and analysis tools.
The new features are available for end users as well as Exxim's OEM partners that are using COBRA software development kit (SDK) libraries in their products.
