Chinese technology conglomerate Tencent introduced a cloud-based image sharing service and an artificial intelligence (AI) platform for researchers and developers today at the 83rd Chinese International Medical Device Expo (CMEF).
AI Medical Innovation System (AIMIS) Medical Image Cloud is designed to help patients manage their medical images and give permission for medical professionals to access their exams and reports. Patients can also authorize sharing of image reports amongst hospitals, according to the company.
What's more, AIMIS Image Cloud connects medical institutions at all levels through PACS in the cloud, enabling patients to receive their imaging exams at their primary medical institutions and then benefit from remote expert diagnosis, Tencent said. Physicians can conduct online consultations on difficult cases using Tencent's real-time audio and video capabilities, according to the firm. They can also perform synchronous collaborative operations.
Tencent has also unveiled AIMIS Open Lab, a cloud-based service platform designed to help research institutes, healthcare institutions, and technology startups to develop their own medical AI algorithms. Open Lab can provide services such as data desensitization, access, and annotation, as well as training, testing, and applying models, the firm said.
In other AI news, Tencent has also launched an AI innovation competition. Teams from healthcare institutions, universities, and technology startups are invited to use technologies such as AI, big data, and cloud computing to solve medical problems posed by clinicians, according to the company.
