Canon USA and its Virtual Imaging subsidiary have unveiled Scatter Correction, a new software option designed to obviate the need for an antiscatter grid during certain types of x-ray examinations.
Available with the firms' CXDI Control Software NE, Scatter Correction emulates the process of how a grid physically reduces scatter and improves contrast, producing results similar to if the same CXDI detector was used with a grid, according to the vendors. The result is streamlined workflow for technologists and more comfortable positioning for patients, the companies said.
