Radiation therapy center operator US Oncology of Houston posted revenues of $648.3 million in the third quarter (end-September 30), up 10% compared with $588.7 million in the third quarter of 2004. The medical oncology services company also reported net income of $6.9 million, compared with a net loss of $13.6 million in the same quarter a year ago.
For the nine-month period, revenues were $1.8 billion, compared with $1.7 billion in the same period of 2004. Net income slipped to $14.6 million, down from $31 million in the same period a year ago.
In the first nine months of this year, US Oncology opened five cancer centers and installed four PET/CT systems, bringing the company's total number of integrated cancer centers to 84. The company also operates 30 PET systems and eight PET/CT units.
