Hitachi releases new Ascent software

Hitachi Medical Systems America has released version 4.5 of its Ascent MR software platform, used with Airis II open MR scanners. Ascent 4.5 includes a number of features, including new pulse sequences, post-processing tools, and user interface enhancements, according to the Twinsburg, OH-based vendor.

Hitachi said it has improved the neuro and ortho clinical capabilities of Airis II scanners via Ascent’s Balanced SARGE and Driven Equilibrium FSE/FIR sequences. Multiplane/multiscan acquisition provides faster scan planning, while radial and free-curve multiplanar reconstruction contributes increased reformatting flexibility, according to the vendor.

Ascent 4.5 also includes automated image position correction for creation of subtracted or added image datasets, as well as inversion recovery EPI-DWI capability with fat suppression for diffusion-weighted 0.3-tesla images. Support for the DICOM modality worklist has also been added. The software is available at no charge to customers of the vendor's Ultra Plus customer-assurance program.
