Canon shows 4D features for Aplio i900 at ACC show

Canon Medical Systems demonstrated new 4D imaging features for its flagship Aplio i900 cardiovascular ultrasound scanner at the just-concluded American College of Cardiology (ACC) meeting in Orlando, FL.

These include guidance for 4D transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) transcatheter procedures with advanced quantitative technologies, including the company's mitral valve analysis (MVA) tool, which delivers fast valve analysis during planning, implantation, and post-op evaluation.

Other new features include automated analysis and measurement tools such as ejection fraction calculation with global longitudinal strain, myocardial performance index (MPI), and 3D wall motion tracking to identify early stages of cardiac disease and quantify cardiac function with improved detail. The new 4D features help expand cardiovascular ultrasound imaging capabilities on Aplio i900, while streamlining the learning curve for new users, Canon said.

The new features have received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance.
