Royal Philips, the parent of Philips Healthcare, has announced its intention to build upon its cloud-based radiology informatics portfolio to include teleradiology viewing and reporting capabilities, as well as on-call radiologist services.
The decision follows the company's recent acquisition of U.S.-based teleradiology provider Direct Radiology's teleradiology platform, which Philips plans to scale for global use. The platform will add to Philips' existing IT infrastructure and its cloud-based HealthSuite digital platform for connecting consumers, patients, and healthcare providers, Philips said.
Philips noted that its acquisition of Direct Radiology did not include its medical practice, which will continue to operate independently through managed service agreements.
