Mycetoma:

The patient in the radiograph below presented with complaints of cough with minimal hemoptysis. The chest radiograph revealed a cavitary abnormality in the left lung apex. The mycetoma is difficult to appreciate on the plain film, but is better identified on computed tomography below.

The CT scan revealed a mycetoma within the left apical cavity. Air is seen filling the interstices within the mycetoma. The wall of the cavity is slightly thick and minimally irregular. Unfortunately, the patient developed massive hemoptysis and expired prior to medical intervention. (Click image to enlarge)
